Mojang Studios created Minecraft, which is a sandbox game. Markus Notch, a person who created the game in the Java programming language. It was first made public in May 2009, following several early private testing versions, before being fully released in November 2011. Players in Minecraft explore a blocky, procedurally generated, three-dimensional world with virtually infinite terrain, discovering and extracting raw materials, crafting tools and items, and building structures, earthworks, and machines. Players can fight hostile mobs and cooperate with or compete against other players in the same World, depending on the game mode they choose. That's only an overview of Minecraft.
It is no surprise that there are many fantastic alternative solutions to games like Minecraft. Mojang's blocky sandbox is still going strong. Also one of the most popular games of its type. Minecraft inspired many games that were released in the years following its initial release, including some of the best crafting games available.

Platforms:P.C. and PS4
The Forest dumps you in the middle of nowhere (literally: you crash a plane) and forces you to forge weapons and shelter to survive against a nocturnal tribe of cannibals. It's like playing Minecraft, but the creepy hissing spiders are bloodthirsty savages trying to eat you. If the screenshot above wasn't clear enough, The Forest is far scarier than Minecraft ever wanted to be. The whole thing has a real Green Inferno vibe, with you being lost in the wilderness, scavenging for food, building a shelter from the elements, and fighting off aggressive club-toting mutants. Not for children.
Platforms:Xbox One, iOS, P.C. and PS4
Roblox's insanely popular online sandbox allows you to create almost anything you can think of. Want to construct a massive skyscraper only to have it explode spectacularly or throw a disco party complete with flashing lights and D.J. on a stage? Take the plunge. The World is yours to do with as you please, and the possibilities are limitless thanks to the game's sophisticated editing tools. Roblox strongly emphasizes the social aspects of building and deconstructing with friends, with nearly everything in the World created by the players. If Minecraft is too solitary for you, give it a shot.
Platforms:Xbox One, iOS, P.C., Nintendo Swift, Windows, and PS4
When you first start in the 2D World of Terraria, you will slaughter many trees on your way to building a shelter, just like Minecraft. But it's a necessary sacrifice because things go bump in the night in this World, things that want to kill you even though you try to know what to do with your ever-growing pile of natural and paranormal resources.
The Castle Story
Although Castle Story is a strategy game, the emphasis on tactically overpowering your enemies does not preclude you from building various structures. The desire to participate in mass deforestation is also a shared trait with Minecraft, but it is all for a good cause: an impenetrable castle made entirely of wooden blocks. The ability to design your defenses adds spice to Castle Story's gameplay, which quickly becomes a wonderfully addictive marriage of creativity and tactics.
Platforms:P.C., PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android
It's easy to overlook the opportunity to enjoy the underappreciated joys and small victories of owning and caring for a garden or a full-fledged farm with the large-scale construction. Stardew Valley is an entire game based on the same idea. There is a lot that sets it apart. Stardew Valley allows players to get to know their local community of fictional peronel and even begin a romance with some of them.
ARK: Survival Evolved
Platforms:P.C., PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch
While Minecraft with dinosaurs is probably an oversimplification, it does give you an idea of what to expect from Ark: Survival Evolved. You awaken on the beaches of a mysterious island teeming with Jurassic beasts, but it's not long before your crafting and combat skills come in handy in your quest to become king of the entire jungle. Ark: Survival Evolved is a game obsessed with Darwinism and the natural hierarchy. Begin as naked prey and progress to apex predator.
Cube World is a game in randomly generated worlds full of blocks. It is based on crafting and character progression. Characters can modify their armor and other wearables for fabulous self-expression, with a strong emphasis on cosmetic customization. But Cube World also borrows from games like The Legend of Zelda.
Platforms:P.C., PS4, Xbox One
Trove is a voxel game, so the visual similarities between it and Minecraft are obvious. The action-oriented MMO from Trion Worlds features mines and caverns crawling with enemies and the promise of untold rewards, allowing players to team up with friends to progress their character and conquer Trove's lengthy to-do list.
Beyond that, an unlimited universe means there are many possibilities in its ample amount of 2D co-op action, not least when it comes to creating the environment and discovering new areas to set up a business. The slogan for Starbound is a pretty good summary of what to expect. Exploring the game with friends is intended to be fun in and of itself rather than just a means to a goal, whether you're farming, trying your hand at space travel, or making weapons for quests.
Colony Survival appears at first glance to be yet another game that is readily confused for Minecraft(albeit Minecraft with some pretty excellent shaders), but it is a very different animal. You are entrusted with creating a colony from scratch (or assigning your various colonists to do it for you) and defending it against the hordes of monsters that attack your settlement every night in this strange hybrid of tower defense and survival strategy.
Kerbal Space Program
Platforms:P.C. PS4, Xbox One
Minecraft is fundamentally about unleashing creativity and problem-solving abilities. It would be best if you had a bed so you gather the necessary materials, arrange them, and build one. The Kerbal Space Program is similar. No, you're not out in the wilderness erecting massive replicas of famous locations, but you are employing critical thinking skills to assist cute cartoon critters in surviving the harsh realities of space travel.
P.C. PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS Android
Regarding survival, and handicraft scares, the Creeper will always reign supreme, but the Don't Starve collection of creatures is dangerously close to ousting that Minecraft icon. The similarities continue with Don't Starve emphasis on survival by creating tools and shelter, despite having extremely limited resources. On the other hand, the game stands out due to its wonderfully gothic style, which makes it look like a children's book fused with H.P.
Dragon Quest Builders 2
Platforms:Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC.
Dragon Quest Builders 2, a survival-craft action RPG, also wears its Minecraft inspiration on its sleeve. The game immerses you in a charming block-based fantasy world ruled by an evil cult. What are the goals of the cult? To get rid of anyone who dared to be creative. As a result, the World is crumbling, and it is your responsibility to defy the cult and assist the people in rebuilding their destroyed land.
King Arthur's Gold
The ability to design and build a castle is as enjoyable here as it is in Minecraft. You'll dig into the medieval land surrounding your home and use it to fend off invading players. King Arthur's Gold excels at the rewards of construction and the hilarity of destruction.
Platforms:P.C., PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Lego Worlds is heavily based on Minecraft, which takes a lot of inspiration from Lego, so you could say these two games have much in common. In Lego Worlds, you can destroy and build 'en masse,' ripping down entire surroundings quickly to build fantastical structures with its robust crafting tools.
In this period from Wube Software, survival meets resource management. After landing on an alien planet, it's up to you to construct the machines needed to survive (and possibly escape) this aggressive new World. The developers have made no secret of their inspiration from Minecraft mods, including IndustrialCraft, and the spirit of building and surviving is evident in Factorio.
The Flame in the Flood
Platforms:P.C., PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
The survival game The Flame in the Flood heavily emphasizes resource management and crafting as game mechanics. With your walking stick, bag, and sole companion, Aesop/Daisy, by your side, you begin chasing a radio signal in a post-apocalyptic, flooded world. In this game, the player must monitor the following four stats, hunger, thirst, temperature, and sleep.
Craft the World
Platforms:P.C. and iOS.
Craft the World (opens in new tab) places a gang of dwarves under your command to explore and mine an underground labyrinth to build fantastic fortresses. After completing their week's construction project, it's time to use the in-game library of simple recipes to craft weapons, items, ammunition, and more.
No Man's Sky
Platforms:P.C., PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
If Minecraft popularized the concept of procedural generation, No Man's Sky took it and flew it into the vast unknown. You're not exploring a single world, but over 18 quintillions, though the familiar survival crafting loop is still present; there are just spaceships and aliens involved now.
Platforms:PC, PS4, and Xbox One
Fallout 4 may not strike you as a spiritual successor to Minecraft as an open-world RPG from Bethesda. Consider the Settlement system, where you can demolish structures to acquire resources and construct great bases. This feature has all of the hallmarks of classic Minecraft gameplay, and Bethesda hasn't been shy about expressing its affection for the franchise in the past.
